We are an annual 2-day kayaking competition which occurs every August on the Lachine Rapids near downtown Montreal. The competition consists of four kayaking competitions. A beginner freestyle occurring on the Vague à Guy, a junior (<18) and intermediate (18+) freestyle occurring on Big Joe. Finally there is the pros category which consists of a freestyle on Mavericks (with jet-ski shuttle service) and a boater cross down the Rapides de St-Catherine (with a jet boat shuttle provided by Saute-Moutons). The beginner, junior, and intermediate competitions have prizes for the winners, while in the participants in the pros category are competing for a spot in the Whitewater Grand Prix 2016. In addition to the four kayaking competitions, we will also host two SUP (stand-up paddle board) races, and a "paddle with the pros" clinic.
Registration: Registration is online (see button above) for Junior, Intermediate, and Pros up until Friday August 14th 2015 at 6pm. Registration is in person the morning of Saturday August 15th at 9:30am for SUP and kayak polo. There will be no sign-ups the morning of the event for Junior, Intermediate, and Pros categories. Cost:
Pros: The Pros event consists of a freestyle competition on Mavericks on Satuday with the assistance from jet skis. Competitors obtain 5 rides and the best ride counts. Points are awarded according to the WWGP rules. Sunday is a boatercross down the Rapides de Sainte-Catherine, with a shuttle to and from the rapides using a jetboat provided by Saute-Moutons Rafting Montreal. The winner of the category obtains a spot to compete in the 2016 Whitewater Grand Prix.
Junior Freestyle: Open for anyone ages 17 and under, it is a freestyle competition on Sunday on either Big Joe or Pyramid Wave (you may decide where you would like to take your rides). Points are awarded according to the ICF rules.
Intermediate Freestyle: Open for anyone ages 18 and over, it is a freestyle competition on Sunday on either Big Joe or Pyramid Wave (you may decide where you would like to take your rides). Points are awarded according to the ICF rules.
SUP [beginner]: Open to all. A race from Vague à Guy down to the KSF basin. Winner takes the registration money for that category.
SUP [extreme]: Open to all. A race from the KSF basin down the chicken line of the Lachine rapids. Winner takes the registration money for that category.
